Herb Berkowitz,
described by Public Relations Quarterly as one of “the most eagerly sought — and brilliantly skilled — PR executives who ever lived,” is Managing Director of PRoactive Solutions, Inc. Prior to joining PRoactive Solutions, he served as Vice President of Communications for The Heritage Foundation, Washington, DC, where he directed the organization's award-winning public relations program and its Center for Media and Public Policy. Berkowitz served in a number of media and communications positions prior to joining The Heritage Foundation, and has won numerous public relations awards, including the Public Relations Society of America's Silver Anvil Award, the organization's highest honor.
A native of Boston, Berkowitz received a journalism degree from George Washington University. He now resides in Wilmington, NC with his wife Jean and dog Sarah.
Jennifer Berkowitz Schell is President and CEO of PRoactive Solutions, Inc. Before founding the firm, she served as the Director of Public Affairs and Marketing for the Pacific Research Institute, a California-based think tank. Prior to that, she served for three years as Vice President of John Adams Associates, a Washington, DC-based public relations agency known for its work managing and communicating about emerging health, environmental, and safety issues on behalf of some of the world's largest trade associations and corporations.
A native of the District of Columbia, she earned a M.A. from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and a B.A. from Dickinson College. She resides in Asheville, North Carolina, with her husband Mark and her two dogs, Bunter and Petey.
Sonia Blumstein joined PRoactive Solutions, Inc. as an Account Director in July 2007. Before joining the firm, she served as Director of Media and Legislative Affairs for the Institute for Policy Innovation (IPI), a national think tank known for its policy research in economics, technology, health care, and intellectual property. During her seven years at IPI, she managed the organization's outreach to the media, government, and related policy, educational and advocacy organizations.
Prior to joining IPI, Blumstein worked with the State Policy Network, an organization linking the efforts of state-based policy organizations across the United States. Originally from Houston, Blumstein earned a M.A. in Political Management from Regent University and a B.A. from Howard Payne University, where she was a Hatton W. Sumners Scholar in the university's Douglas MacArthur Academy of Freedom. She currently resides outside of Birmingham, Alabama with her husband Derek and their doxie “Truman.”
